Disabling Windows Vista sidebar is very easy. To do this,
1. Right click on the sidebar or sidebar icon.
2. Choose “properties“.
3. Uncheck the “Start Sidebar when Windows starts” checkbox.
4. Then right-click on the icon.
5. Choose “Exit” to close the sidebar.

Windows Vista uses large icons by default in the start menu.In order to change the windows vista to show small icons do the following.
1. Right click the “start” button.
2. Select “Properties“.
3. Click “Customize“.
